Kalu Rinpoche | Creation and Completion (Session 6) | There is no meditation

Okay, so now moving to the new chapter.

“Yang dag don la” ultimately, ultimate, ultimate purpose, ultimate meaning, “gom dja gom dje med” there is no meditation, because it is a non-meditation. “Dren pa tchig pu tchog na nyam len tse”, simply in a continuity of a state of knowing, is a supreme practice; “nyam len tse”, “tse” means “supreme practice”.

And then over the time, that “dren pa nyid kyang med” the sensation of knowing, also is no longer important.

Dren chi ying su dag tse ye she dzöd

because you become “one”, I don’t know what that means, let’s not try to discover that.

Bud ching zed tse me yang yel wa chin

Okay, so what he’s trying to say is that, in English I don’t know how to say, there’s a distinction between the “state of knowing” and “mindfulness”. That’s what he’s trying to say.

The state of knowing is like when you recognize the nature of the mind, you have the clarity, you have the emptiness, you have the state of knowing. Right? So that’s, that’s distinctive to “mindfulness”. Like mindful of what you’re teaching, mindful of what you are learning, mindful of what you are practicing. Really, a sense of awareness. You know, mindful awareness. And then there’s a clear state of knowing, which is much more subtle, you know?

So this, what he’s trying to say, is, what he’s saying is that when you practice continuously with a mindfulness over the time, and over the time, and that is the supreme practice. And ultimately, even the mindfulness becomes unnecessary. Let’s put it like this. It becomes unnecessary. Because you have the state of knowing, inseparably together in this nature of the state of mind, you know?

So therefore, therefore he’s saying that:

Trul pa zed tse nyen po nyd kyang chi.

“Trul pa zed tse” means once the illusion is disintegrated, your mindfulness also dissolves. Because there’s nothing to mindful about, when the illusion disintegrates.

Like an example, when you know the tricks of the magician, then it’s no longer a magic, and it’s a trick. So it’s little bit like that.

Di ni pag pa nam kyi tchöd yul lag

“Di ni pag pa nam kyi tchöd yul lag” means this is the method and the practice of all the buddhas and bodhisattvas. “pag pa” means supreme beings.

Monthly ZOOM teachings by Kalu Rinpoche
Session 6 – November 7, 2021 (40′ 50”)

“[54] Yang dag don la gom dja gom dje med
In the completely perfect sense, there is no meditation and nothing to meditate on.
When mindfulness alone is enough, it is the peak of practice.
In the ultimate sense, even mindfulness itself does not exist.
Dren chi ying su dag tse ye she dzöd
When the basis of mindfulness is absolved in basic space, we speak of wisdom.
Bud ching zed tse me yang yel wa chin
As when fuel is used up the fire is also extinguished,
when delusion is used up the remedy itself is eliminated.
Di ni pag pa nam kyi tchöd yul lag
This is the sphere of activity of all noble ones.”
