To summarize the “Illusionary body and mind” teaching is basically saying “the very existence of the anger does not exist in the other person, it does not exist within me, it does not exist in between, in the middle space”. But, yet, due to our belief and we produce that, due to fixation of the mind and we produce that.
Just because I teach about the “Illusionary body and mind” doesn’t mean that I am somehow reached to the high level of understanding. It doesn’t mean that. Like an example this precious statue, if you say “Oh this is a wonderful Buddha statue, since you have no attachment can you please give it to me?” And I will say “Absolutely not!” [haha] So that shows that I have a fixation, that shows that I have attachment, just because it looks holy. Does not mean I am liberated, like a complete liberation. It’s a little bit better than other things but it’s still a worldly attachment.
I have a lot of attachment, a lot, you have no idea. I have attachment to Dalai Lama, I have attachment to the Shangpa lineage, I have attachment to Six-Armed Mahakala, attachment to the Dharma, I have attachment to myself, I have attachment to wanting to be enlightened and then also the worldly things on the top of that.
When we enter in our spiritual journey or dharmic journey or as a Buddhist practitioner, we tend to have a lot of stress upon ourself, that we wanted to be perceived in a such a way by other people like “I am a Buddhist practitioner so therefore I should be perceived in such and such a way.” It’s nothing wrong in the beginning but at the end it becomes quite a big burden to let go.
Therefore if you look at the Milarepa he has a white cloth and that pretty much it. So that signifies that individual is a highly realised being.
