Kalu Rinpoche | Niguma Long Life Empowerment – to find the definition of relative and absolute truth (Part 1)

First of all, good morning to all of you, Tashi delek.

So instead of enjoying your weekend and your summer vacation, in Normandy, around the beaches or around the south of France, you come here to listen to my useless solution. [haha]

I would like to start, before the event, with my deep thanks to my dearest uncle [Lama Gyurme].

Today is the Niguma empowerment and tomorrow will be the Niguma yoga and then the Illusionary Body and Mind and day after tomorrow as well. But I see some of you that we have seen each other or meet each other for the first time, so I must give you a little bit of a general point of view about the Buddhadharma.

For example, Buddha Shakyamuni taught us the Three paths: the Theravada, the Mahayana and Vajrayana. In Theravada they have may different traditions, cultures, depending on where they are located, and different techniques of meditation as well, different methods. And you have Mahayana just like that, they have their own interpretation throughout the different regions and the cultures and what is in the Buddhist teaching, clothing, way of making prayers, that is very distinctive even if they are part of the Mahayana branch.

Then even, like when we say the Vajrayana, even the Vajrayana popularity is mostly established in Tibet, in the Himalayan region, and of course the origin comes from India.

Now when it comes to Vajrayana, there are many different traditions, but in the end whether it is the Vajrayana or Theravada or Mahayana, in the end, it is to find the definition of relative truth and then the ultimate truth gradually.

Many of you have read ‘Sherab Nyingpo’, the Heart Sutra, so many of you have read the Heart Sutra, many of you have read Sherab Nyingpo teachings, just in general. If you are a practitioner who practice Niguma’s teachings, it’s basically the end. Niguma proposed different techniques, but it comes to the same conclusion, way of seeing things is similar, the way of analytical understanding is similar, and that’s that.
