Kalu Rinpoche | Wisdom Dharma Chat – something that we all need to apply (Q&A4)

Q: So then maybe Rinpoche can talk a little bit about what is the sort of meditative practice and how does that inform our daily life?

A: Well, the disappointing part is that “Illusory body and mind” practice cannot be applied into a daily life, that’s the disappointing news. You cannot apply.

This idea we have in this modern Buddhist world, wanting to apply everything into modern life doesn’t exist in that level of teaching. Unless you are a seasoned practitioner, then, everything is a playground. Every profound teaching of the “Illusory body” just becomes, just another drop of nectar from the great master that you can be playful with it.

To add into our daily life all this “Illusory body and mind” is almost impossible to begin with. But to create the connection, to know, to study, to practice is definitively something that we all need to apply, that we all need to focus on. Because at the end, like I have mentioned in the beginning, “Illusory body and mind” is to counter our fixation on our emotions and the projection of our reality that we tend to have right now, that we tend to cycle with immense suffering again and again.

So that is the core of the Niguma’s teaching.
