Kalu Rinpoche | Wisdom of emptiness in everyday life – a long-term solution (Part 1)

Q: If the main purpose of emptiness is to get to a point where we have no attachment, no anger, what about the things that make us happy like love, what is the view on this ? Thank you very much.

Kalu Rinpoche: If you have to question me then just enjoy your life. It’s very simple, if you have to question it, which one I have to choose, that means that you still have not suffered enough. [haha] Does it make sense? Does it make sense?

If you still have to ask a question whether the understanding the nature of the mind, recognising the nature of the mind, is that really important ? or is the love that I have to my family, is that important? If you still have to question it, take it slow, don’t force yourself, because ideally the whole reality of the suffering is not the teachings of the Buddhist masters. These are the teachings that you have to see it by yourself, experience by yourself.

Then by the time you want to learn Dharma or the meaning of emptiness, you are not seeing that as a quick solution, you are seeing that as a long-term solution, right? Because you have seen the cycle of suffering enough, the reality of life, the meaning of impermanence, you have seen enough. Therefore you seek a long-term solution.
