Kalu Rinpoche: You are very welcome.
First of all I would like to say thank you very much for inviting me to your talk show. Just for everybody to know here, to our participants, that a few weeks ago you reached out to me and that you have told me about the talk show.
First I was kind of curious, when you said it is all about what people have gone through in their life and how they overcome and so on. I was just thinking maybe if I share some few words and maybe it will help few people, not thousands, but a few people.

Pema C: Rinpoche was recognized very early, when you were very young, when you were a baby, wasn’t it la?
Kalu Rinpoche: Yes, I was 4 years old, I was four years old when I was recognized by H.H. Dalai Lama. He came my Monastery, he did the enthronement, the haircutting ceremony and all of that. It was back in 1994.
Because the Previous Kalu Rinpoche was the first Buddhist master who actually went to the West fifty years ago. Then after the Previous Kalu Rinpoche he met the Pope [Paul VI] and the Pope of the Vatican said that all the religions are welcomed in the West and that is how the Previous Kalu Rinpoche established the concept of this, nowadays we have this phenomena about “this Rinpoche Dharma centre” “that Rinpoche Dharma centre”, the whole concept of “centre” was actually initiated by Previous Kalu Rinpoche.
Then after that many other master established their institutions, meditation centres, universities and so on. That is the historical relation between H.H. Dalai Lama and Previous Kalu Rinpoche, it goes all the way back. Long story short.
