Q: Dear Rinpoche, what is the important thing that you learned from previous Kalu Rinpoche?
A: The most important thing I’ve learned from my previous Kalu Rinpoche, if I keep it very simple, is that:
No matter how many times you are taken advantage by other people, no matter how many times you have been misused by other people, no matter how many times that you have been betrayed all over, again and again, throughout your lifetime: continue to be a practitioner, continue to keep a positive qualities, don’t accumulate hatred in your mind, and do your best to help others within your own capacities. Be honest about it, be truthful about it, with your activities. And keep a sense of loyalty, and that’s something that I have learned from my predecessor.
So that’s that, it’s simple. It’s nothing magical or miracle or anything.
And then also, the other thing is about the Shangpa lineage that he upheld in his time where he built many retreat centres about the Shangpa traditions, he had given many empowerments, built many stupas. So that’s something that I’ve been doing, and I’m going to do it for the rest of my life.
