My guru Bokar Rinpoche he said to me … because I went to see him every day. Every day!
7:30 in the morning, when the morning session finished, so I went from my temple to his bedroom, made three times prostrations. And I said, ‘Rinpoche, good morning.’ And then Bokar Rinpoche said ‘Good morning.’ That’s my routine every day of three to four years.
And one day he told me to come, said ‘come, sit next to me.’ I said OK. And he said ‘Kalu Rinpoche, I am a student of your predecessor, your previous life. I know that one day you will become an important person. I know that one day you will come around the world. Most important is that you always choose the lowest position. And that’s where all the knowledge comes from. The moment you choose the higher position, you’re lost. So keep in mind.’
I remember that. I remember the room. I remember the smell of the room. I remember his expression. I remember the way of sitting. I remember everything. I think I was 12 years old at that time.
