Kalu Rinpoche | Transforming Our Ordinary Emotion to Clarity (Part 9)

And then once the pretentious has been dissolved and you are always in a state of honesty and the loving kindness will always be there. You don’t have to fight hard to get it. You don’t have to search for it. It will be there. Sometime you will fail miserably, just be ready to accept that, and sometime you will be able to overcome, be ready to accept that.

The biggest liar is when the practitioner says “I’ve never made any mistake”; that’s the biggest liar. Whenever they behave, like you know , regardless of the religious status ; when they start to behave little bit like, doesn’t matter the gender, or East or West, or the religious title, or the ordinary people, it really doesn’t matter. When they start to behave like “I’ve never made any mistakes in my life” that’s is the person I want to run away from, regardless of their background, the social status, religious status, whatever it may be.

That’s one of the reason why I appreciate His Holiness the Dalaï Lama and my guru Sitou Rinpoche; because there is no pretentious attitude within ; they say what it is, they accept their own wrongdoing, and they speak based on honesty and there is no pretentious, there is no manipulation.

So therefore, as that as our current 21st century example, regarding as a practitioner, regarding as a master and I think it’s a good example to look at. So that’s that.

So therefore, it is very important for all of us to understand these principles. Without these principles, when you don’t have a sense of genuine honesty to oneself, there is no discipline anymore. Like we speak about the Buddhism, whether you’re Theravada or Mahayana or Vajrayana you all have to respect the act of generosity, the act of discipline, the act of patience, and all of that right? Six Prajnaparamitas, the six paramitas, put it like that.

And many people they try to perceive it as an object, they can collect and choose, and little bit like “I’m a specialist of patience, I’m a specialist of discipline”; You cannot pick and choose, it doesn’t work like that. When you have a genuine awareness to oneself and then when you have a genuine loving kindness, generosity, the act of generosity comes by itself.
