Q: We are aged women. We feel difficult in learning lots of knowledge or practicing complicate rituals, and our memory ability is declining. Would you give us some advices on our Dharma practices?
A:You know, the great master, the Dakini Sukhasiddhi was also an old lady. She met her guru at her sixties. So, she began her Dharma practices at her sixties and became enlightened in one night.
Enlightenment has nothing to do with the age or knowledge or memory ability. There are people who received lots of intellectual educations but have no quality in their mind. In the contrast, there are also stories about, for example, a dustman who became enlightened when he was doing the routine cleaning works in the Monastery. There are many stories like that in China. So the key point is the authentic Dharma quality of one’s mind.
