Kalu Rinpoche | Wang Lung Tri (Part 1)

Good evening and Tashi delek to all our Dharma sisters and brothers around the world. I would like to say that I appreciate your commitment and your dedication. Some of you are in a very difficult time zone, too early or too late or …. So thank you for your commitment to the Dharma.

So of course today is the transmission, the “lung”.

In Vajrayana tradition, there is a idea of 3 principles in order to say that you receive a blessing or you receive, that you are part of this lineage and so on.

Part of the lineage doesn’t mean that you carry your flag, it doesn’t mean that you have blind faith, it doesn’t mean that you sacrifice against your will, it doesn’t mean that you criticize, being harmful to others or to other lineage or other tradition, it doesn’t mean any of that.

The meaning of a lineage simply comes down to understanding of the Dharma, appreciation and the uniqueness of its own teaching and its own technical method that is taught by the masters and the great Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

That is the clear understanding that we need to have. Because many people nowadays they have different meditation teachings, they have a different concept of visualizations and then they try to make their own sort of a special group, which is not really beneficial in the long run because the Dharma is to help everyone.

Of course there is a lot of ugly people in this world, I’m not denying the existence of the terrible people, of course there are terrible people in all social level, regardless of the status there is always a terrible human being, temporarily, temporarily there is a terrible human being. Permanently, ultimately there is no bad human being, temporarily there’s terrible human being. That kind of circumstance we will face throughout our lifetime.

I’m not trying to make you delusional or out of touch with the reality. All I’m trying to say is that lineage, when it comes to a lineage, don’t fight for it but practice it.

So if you practice it then it will preserve the lineage by itself. You don’t need to argue, you don’t need to debate, you don’t need to make your point, maybe sometimes little bit but not to the extent of what we are imagining. So therefore your qualities shine, the qualities not that you are overthinking in your head, but the quality that you have accumulated throughout the time, with the different teachings, different methods of practice and transmission.
