So, you see, the Niguma’s teaching, it was not opened for the public, for seven generations. So she, herself, she prophesized, she said, “my teachings that has been taught to the student three times in the actual engagement and also in the state of the lucid dream”, that she also gave a transmission, lucid dream state as well, the continuation of awareness. So, she said that “you cannot give this to public for seven generations”, herself starting with the seventh, the sixth and the fourth and the fifth and so on. So, “after the seventh generation my teachings can be made public”.
That’s why the lineage of the Niguma became very popular after the seventh generation, you know. Her teaching was so much revered and respected by Dzogchen practitioner, Kagyu practitioner, Drukpa Kagyu practitioner, Sakya practitioner, Gelug practitioner and so on. It, it was, it became popular in the beginning because there was a Tibetan figure who himself as the translator or scholar, meditator, gave the general teaching. So he became very well known because of that, but not because of the Niguma’s teaching. But he choose his students, you know, for the lineage holder and so on and then only the seventh lineage holder, you know, untie the knot of the Vajra teachings and then gave teachings public. And that’s why many figures, you know, religious figures, they practice Niguma’s teaching.
And then the current example is His Holiness Dalaï Lama, the 14th, you know, he received teachings from Sakya masters, Kagyu masters, Gelug masters, Nyingma masters, including from Previous Kalu Rinpoche and so on. So these are the, the current example of our generation. It’s not some kind of a legendary that only happened a long time ago. It also happens daily.
That’s why when I see the biography and the history of Previous Kalu Rinpoche, you know, I do not think of myself as Kalu Rinpoche. I mean I carry his name, I carry his legacy, I carry his family lineage and so on. … But in terms of the realization, I don’t even dare to think, you know. I used to think that I am him, before I practiced in the retreat. After I started doing the retreat, then I realized how far away I am. Before in the beginning, I had a lot of … because people tell me “You’re reincarnation of Kalu Rinpoche, you’re great master reincarnation, anything is possible, you have great realisation, karmic connections and so on”. “Yeah, I am!!”. Then when you start practicing “Ah, I’m so far away”, you know. Yeah. You don’t know until you really start practicing, then you realize how far you are. That is the beginning of being a good practitioner, you know? When you think that “I’m doing good, I’m doing good, I’m doing good” that means you’re still not doing good. When you realize how far away you are, then you say “oh… okay” then you are starting a good journey. That’s just my insight.
So that’s that.
