Kalu Rinpoche | Happy Saga Dawa 2021

Tashi delek to my Dharma sisters and brothers around the world,

I want to say greetings to everyone, and I hope that all of you are well in this very moment. There’s a few topics I would like to discuss with you.

One is the biography of the Buddha. I think we have to emphasise on that and we have to focus on that little bit. Of course, I don’t have to explain to you everything in detail, but I think it would be good to put little bit of time to practice Shamata and Vipassana along with it, try to read some Diamond Sutra, Heart Sutra. And then also try to read some biography of the Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, and how he became a Buddha and what was the commitment, what was the meaning of renunciation, and how he perceived the world, and how he perceived the reality, and how became enlightened, and so on, so forth. Not just in this singular lifetime, but the life, many lifetimes before. And if you have time to study little bit, I think it will be good, it will be meaningful. You don’t have to commit yourself all day, all night, but what you can do is at least once every few days, because it’s a special month, we call Saga Dawa, Vesak day, or Saga Dawa. So it’s a special month, so that’s something what you can do.

And also, during this special month, try to consume less meat, and then try to avoid dairy products so that you have some kind of a positive impact, of saving lives, and helping around the world, indirectly, with your small habit, you can change.

So you don’t have to commit all these things every day for one month, you can do it once every few days, so that’s that.

So I hope that it’s not too much for you to do it, and of course, our administrator of our WhatsApp group will translate to you if it’s required to translate, and if there’s some questions that you would like to ask, then feel free.

Until then, I just want to say, many good wishes to all of you, and be safe, and my prayers are always with all of you. And thank you so much for your time for listening to this voice recording and looking forward to seeing you very soon. Thank you.
