Q: How can I get rid of negative thoughts?
A: Try to, if you want to get rid of the negative thoughts, in order to overcome the negative thoughts, try to analyze the definition of negativity. When you define it, then you can dissolve the negativities. If you have anger, then before you come to the conclusion where you commit such wrongdoing, whether with speech, or whether with physical activities, you examine the definition of the anger. So if you define anger in that very moment, then you can dissolve the negativities.
But in order to have that great strength to examine, you must meditate, you must practice Chenrezig, you must practice Green Tara, you must practice doing Guru Rinpoche. All these deities, simple deities, but in order to train your mind, to give you strength, to give you strength to have and to develop clarity in your mind. And that is the main purpose of the deity practice, to minimize the external fixation world, more to the sense of clarity and awareness.
So then when you develop these qualities, and then whenever there’s negativities, instead of coming to a very quick conclusion of “Oh this is negative” you can define the negativity. When you define everything like a puzzle, everything in separation of what is negativities, what is anger, and when you dissolve it, and then the anger dissolves along with it at the same time. The discomfort dissolves at the same time. Dissatisfaction, desire, that dissolves at the same time.
